From 1909 to 1956, Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal crossed the South Shore Line's main line, crossing was not interlocked. This main line crossing was eliminated by the 1956 construction of the South Shore Line's East Chicago Bypass, paralleling the Indiana Toll Road. A South Shore Line interchange track continued to cross until the 1990's.
