Multiple track line with single direction ABS and automatic train control, with some segments receiving CTC mostly in 1980's.

Access to locomotive facility at 40th Avenue Yard.

KENTON AVENUE
Remote interlocking installed 1961, controlled by dispatcher

East end of three (formerly four) track segment among what otherwise is a line with two main tracks. Segment became three tracks in 1961, in preparation for relocation of CTA Lake Street elevated route the following year to the south side of the right of way. Prior to then, switchtenders may have handled route selection.

VALE
Remote interlocking installed 1947, controlled from Tower JN

Little is known about this interlocking. It is unknown if the Chicago Great Western line might have crossed at grade, prior to construction of a bridge.

Interlocking east of West Chicago. Until 1961 was junction with Belvidere Subdivision, prior to reconfiguration of trackage near the West Chicago yard.
