SOUTHERN RAILWAY

(POST WW II)

After the war, Southern Railway and a few other participating railroads introduced the all sleeper Crescent, complementing the all coach Southerner over the railroad's main line. Eventually the train became combined into the Southern Crescent, operated by Southern Railway independently of Amtrak until 1979.
