Trackage at Akron Union Station consisted of two parallel main lines, which were a joint Baltimore & Ohio and Pennsylvania Road line, and the Erie Railroad. This was the B&O main line between Pittsburgh and Chicago, the PRR Akron Branch between Cleveland and Columbus, and the Erie main line between New York and Chicago. At Arlington Street, 1 mile north of Union Station, the joint trackage began, and Erie line began paralleling. At Union Station, Erie was on the east side. At JO Tower, immediately south of Union Station, the lines crossed and Erie began paralleling on the west side. The joint trackage ended at Warwick, 14 miles southwest.
The Baltimore & Ohio's CT&V Subdivision northwest to Cleveland crossed under the main line at Arlington Street. And roughly parallelling the main line to the east, a connection extended north from Arlington Street and connected with the B&O main line at BD Tower, 2 miles north of Union Station. This line needed to serve Akron using a separate station at Howard Street. The line extended south to Canton and points beyond, but passenger service was discontinued earlier.
Akron Canton & Youngstown operated a secondary passenger service west to Delphos, using its own station in Akron.
