All four main railroads serving Pueblo served Colorado Springs and Denver to the north, using a paired track jointly operated by Santa Fe and Rio Grande. Santa Fe and Rio Grande operated as separate railroads between Pueblo and Bragdon, 11 miles north. The separate railroads actually used opposite ends of Pueblo Union Depot. Colorado & Southern had trackage rights via Santa Fe and Rio Grande north of Pueblo to Colorado Springs and Denver. Rio Grande had trackage rights via Colorado & Southern south to Walsenburg for its trains to Alamosa. And Missouri Pacific had trackage rights via Santa Fe east as far as NA Jct., 28 miles east. Missouri Pacific trains between Pueblo and Denver were operated by Rio Grande.
