Metra #7600, originally C&NW #1, was the Chicago and North Western's first bilevel car. St. Louis Car built 16 of these cars in 1955. Pullman Standard built 32 identical looking cars the following year. These cars have been withdrawn from regular service, with #7600 since going to the Illinois Railway Museum.
The same car, now at the Illinois Railway Museum and beautifully repainted in the C&NW paint scheme.
Pullman Standard built all remaining flat sided cars between 1960 and 1970, including 10 cars for the Rock Island Railroad. These cars have fewer windows than the earlier cars. Cars were repainted in the RTA scheme adopted in the 1970's.
Some cars were repainted to the new Metra scheme.
