Formed in 1922 as Dayton & Columbus Transportation Co., a bus subsidiary of Indiana Columbus & Eastern Traction Co.

Renamed in 1930 to Cincinnati & Lake Erie Bus Co. when railway was merged into Cincinnati & Lake Erie Railroad, renamed in 1939 Cincinnati & Lake Erie Transportation Co. when railway service was discontinued.

1940-1944 was a Trailways member, operating as Cincinnati & Lake Erie Trailways.

Cincinnati & Lake Erie Transportation Co. consolidated in 1949 into Great Lakes Greyhound Lines of Indiana, subsequently consolidated in 1957 into Central Division of Greyhound.
