ERIE RAILROAD

Marion Division/First Subdivision

Former Erie, later Erie Lackawanna, main line through Ohio and across Northern Indiana into Chicago. Line was not included as part of Conrail with its formation in 1976, with traffic shifted to former Penn Central lines. A succession of short line operators attempted to preserve service on the line, but these attempts failed and the line was basically abandoned.
