Map shows electric railway trackage in the Michigan City/La Porte area. Most trackage was operated by the Northern Indiana Railway and predecessors, and is shown in brown. Thick lines indicate interurban routes, generally on private right of way.

The Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad is shown in orange. Thick line indicates trackage on private right of way, thin line indicates street running trackage. Entire route remains in service, operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.

Also shown, in blue, is the Goshen, South Bend & Chicago Railroad Co., which operated from 1907 to 1917. This was part of Chicago-New York Electric Air Line Railroad, which had ambitious plans to construct an interurban line between its namesake cities. Between 1913 and 1917, line was operated by Gary & Interurban Railroad, a predecessor to the Gary Railways Co.
