SOUTH BEND

STREETCAR AND INTERURBAN MAP

Map shows electric railway trackage in the South Bend/Mishawaka area. Most trackage was operated by the Northern Indiana Railway and predecessors, and is shown in brown. Beyond the South Bend/Mishawaka area, interurban lines operated west to La Porte and Michigan City, east to Elkhart and Goshen, and north to Niles and St. Joseph, Michigan.

The Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad is shown in orange. Thick line indicates trackage on private right of way, thin line indicates street running trackage in use until 1970. From 1970 to 1992, the South Shore Line terminated at Bendix Ave. west of town. In 1992, the new trackage was opened to the South Bend Airport, shown with a dashed line.
