Columbus Railway Power & Light Co. - city streetcar system included line north to Westerville. In 1929 cut back to Minerva Park, with replacement bus service operated by Buckeye Stages. Remaining suburban segment replaced in 1931 with Columbus Railway Power & Light Co. bus service. In 1939 bus service absorbed into Buckeye Stages route, which around that time became part of Greyhound route to Akron.
Columbus New Albany & Johnstown Traction Co. - operated northeast to Gahanna. Sold 1923 to Columbus Railway Power & Light Co., discontinued in 1928.
Ohio & Southern Traction Co. - operated south to Hartman Farms, discontinued in 1929.
Arlington Bus Co. - began operating in 1928 between Columbus and Upper Arlington, replacing Columbus Urbana & Western Railway bus service which had replaced suburban railway in 1925. Routes eventually acquired by Columbus-Celina Coach Lines.
Columbus-Celina Coach Lines - began operating in late 1930's between those cities, route discontinued in late 1950's. Meanwhile evolved into a suburban bus company, with routes west to General Motors Ternstedt plant and southeast to Lockbourne Air Force Base.
Columbus-Grove City Bus Co. - began operating in 1928, replacing Indiana Columbus & Eastern Traction Co. bus service which had replaced interurban railway in 1923. Route eventually acquired by Columbus-Celina Coach Lines.
Columbus-Marysville Bus Co. - began operating in 1922 between those cities, eventually extended further northwest to Lima. Route sold in 1965 to Lake Shore System, which ceased operations in 1974.
In 1967, Columbus-Celina Coach Lines became Columbus Suburban Coach Lines. And in 1969, town of Upper Arlington declared the buses as unsafe, resulting in transfer of former Arlington Bus Co. service to Columbus Transit Co., which restructured some existing routes. Shortly thereafter, Columbus-Celina Coach Lines ceased operations after a strike, resulting in discontinuance of GM Ternstedt and Lockbourne routes. Grove City line was sold to Lincoln Village Transit Co., which finally sold the line to COTA in 1974. This is the only surviving older suburban transit line.
