CLEVELAND STREETCARS AND BUSES - 1942
Streetcar and bus routes operated in 1942, when Cleveland Railway was taken over by the publicly owned Cleveland Transit System. Streetcar routes are red, trolleybus routes are blue, and motor bus routes are green. New bus routes in outlying areas had been created, and a few streetcar routes had been converted to buses. The Payne-Hough route was the only route converted to trolleybuses. The Payne-Wade Park was intended to be similarly converted, but a shortage of materials due to World War II made this impossible until 1945. Meanwhile, the Payne-Wade Park route and other routes used trailers pulled behind the motor buses.
