Indy-Go acquired some 40 foot Orions in 1986 and 1987. #8709 arrived in 1987, as indicated by the number, and is in the blue and green stripes paint scheme adopted in the 1980's, when the system was identified as "Metro". Location is Ohio Street in downtown Indianapolis, November 19, 2001.
Ten years would pass before Metro, renamed Indy-Go in 1996, would acquire any new buses. In 1997 and 1998, two orders of 40 foot Gillig Phantoms arrived. #9807 is seen on the #8 Washington route at Washington Square Mall, east of Indianapolis, November 19, 2001.
In 2000, Indy-Go acquired its first low floor buses, from Gillig and in three different lengths. #2002 is a 30 foot model, and is seen on the #22 Shelby route on Ohio Street in downtown Indianapolis, November 19, 2001.
Also seen on Ohio Street in downtown Indianapolis is a 40 foot low floor Gillig, #2060, on the #2 East 34th St. route, November 19, 2001.
Over the next several years, Indy-Go would acquire additional low floor Gillig buses. Including 40 foot bus #2707, seen on Maryland at Illinois on the #38 Lafayette Square route, February 1, 2010.
