Trackage Rights

A sampling of freight train activity in the Chicago area, mostly during the mid 1990's.


In 1993, CSX SD50's #8590 and #8568 with an eastbound freight on Belt Railway of Chicago trackage, approaching CSX's own crossing at 75th Street.


In 1993, a CSX freight train has come off Metra's former Rock Island line at Blue Island, and backing over CSX trackage towards Barr Yard. CSX now owns the former Rock Island line west of the end of Metra's territory in Joliet. GP15T #1500 is still painted for Chessie System, while the other GP15T's are #1518, #1503, and #1515.

In Dolton, CSX GP40-2 #6058 leads a northbound train using trackage rights over Union Pacific, in 1994.
