AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS

GREAT NORTHERN

(DOME ERA)

Great Northern's premier train was the Empire Builder, which was first streamlined in 1947. The train was reequipped again in 1951, with the 1947 cars going to a secondary train, the Western Star. And the Empire Builder received dome cars in 1955. The Empire Builder basically continues to exist under Amtrak, although using the former Milwaukee Road east of St. Paul.

Only streamlined trains and the most important stations are shown.
