Union Station
Opened in 1903
Location: 525 8th St.
Railroads: Atlantic Coast Line, Central of Georgia, Charleston & Western Carolina, Georgia Railroad, Georgia & Florida, Southern Railway
Closed 1968, demolished 1972, post office now occupies location.

Passenger service discontinued in 1983.

Georgia Railroad did not join Amtrak, and was required to continue operation of its remaining trains beyond 1971.

In 1968, Georgia Railroad trains began serving Augusta at its Harrisonville Yard. After the 1971 formation of Amtrak, Georgia Railroad continued to operate some service independently, as mixed trains.

Passenger service discontinued in 1967.

In the final years of passenger service, trains terminated in Warrenville, 12 miles east. Warrenville was the junction of lines to Columbia and to Charleston SC.

Augusta Union Station was operated by Augusta & Summerville Railway.

Charleston & Western Carolina was a subsidiary of Atlantic Coast Line, and its line was used by ACL as far as Robbins SC, 30 miles southeast.
