SAN DIEGO TRANSIT INFORMATION

Official Web site of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

In 1967, the San Diego Transit Co. was taken over by the city. And in 1975, a Metropolitan Transit System was formed to coordinate public transportation throughout San Diego County. The last streetcars ran in 1949, although a new light rail system (Trolley) began operating in 1982.

ADDITIONAL TRANSIT PROVIDERS

Outside San Diego, the North County Transit District has operated buses in north San Diego County since 1977. Also, the San Diego County Transit System operates buses in other areas of San Diego County.
