Now a regular Commonwealth Edison substation, located immediately west of the Red Line.

Located a short distance northeast of the older Commonwealth Edison substation, closer to the Red Line elevated structure.

Located within the northwest corner of the former car house north of Ardmore Ave. The Red Line is visible in the background, the yellow objects to the right of the flagpole is where the electrical cables connect with the track and third rail.

This Commonwealth Edison substation was south of the Morse station and west of the Red Line right of way. It is not known if it fed the elevated line. In 1985, the substation building was sold to a live theater company. And in 2013, CTA opened a new substation a short distance south.

For many years, CTA's Red Line was without a substation between Broadway and Calvary, approximately 3 miles. But this new substation opened in 2013. And likely, a shortage of available real estate necessitated construction of this tall and narrow building structure.

Replaced an older substation on the other side of Chicago Ave. in Evanston. The older substation had occupied land which later became part of an expanded Howard Street yard for CTA. The fence to the right of the building is where CTA's Yellow Line crosses under Chicago Ave.
