PACE RAILFAN TIPS

PACE INFORMATION

The following Pace bus routes may be useful for railfans traveling between Metra lines. Most routes operate once an hour, daily except Sundays. For schedules and further information on a bus route, go to above official Web site for Pace. And on the left side of the home page, there is a place to enter a "Keyword". And enter a bus route number for the "Keyword".

For this list, Metra routes are grouped into three sectors. And listed for each sector are the Pace route numbers which may be useful in that sector. Routes are listed in sequence according to distance out from Chicago. The Heritage Corridor is not included, due to limited service and few available Pace connections.

GOOGLE MAPS

This zoomable Google Map has been marked with the "Top Ten" railfan spots in the Chicago area. Also marked are the most useful Pace transfer locations, either at CTA rail terminals, adjacent to Metra stations, or at shopping malls. When zooming in close enough on Google Maps, all Pace, CTA and Metra stops are marked as little blue squares, which can be clicked for route and schedule information.
