Historically, the main line through Apeldoorn was the "Oosterspoorweg" (Eastern Railway) line from Amsterdam and Amersfoort to Zutphen. But east of Apeldoorn, the line to Deventer Almelo and Hengelo is now part of the double track electrified main line. While the line southeast to Zutphen remains as a single track diesel operated branch line. The main westbound platform is along Track 1, and the main eastbound platform is between Track 3 and Track 4.
