Although the Heritage Corridor trackage is owned by Illinois Central, this line also sees freight trains of various other railroads. In 1994, prior to IC reacquiring the Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad, a CCP coal unit train is seen northbound through Joliet. Locomotives are former Milwaukee Road rebuilt GP9 #974, GP38 #2003, and former Milwaukee Road rebuilt GP9 #968.
