ILLINOIS CENTRAL

Speed limits from Illinois Central Illinois Division employee timetables #34 dated December 14, 1940, and #2 dated November 6, 1960.

In 1940, prior to the Interstate Commerce Commission 79 mph order, IC's diesel streamliner trains were permitted 90 mph on all main lines.

In 1960, with ATC in use between Champaign and Branch Jct. (north of Centralia), the speed limit was 100 mph. During the 1970's and 1980's, the speed limit was 90 mph. The ATC was deactivated around 1990.
