Short Way Lines
Began operations in 1933.

Operated from Toledo to Ann Arbor and Flint, Toledo to Jackson, Ann Arbor to Lansing and Grand Rapids.

Owned the following subsidiary:

Short Way Lines of Indiana

Operated from Fort Wayne to Battle Creek and Grand Rapids.

Subsequently acquired the following companies:

Central Coach Lines
Acquired in 1939.

Operated from Fort Wayne to Lansing.

Fort Wayne-Kalamazoo Coach Lines
Acquired in 1939, affiliated with Central Coach Lines (above).

Operated from Fort Wayne to Kalamazoo.

Lansing-Ionia Coach Lines
Acquired in 1939.

Operated from Grand Rapids to Ann Arbor, Lansing to Hillsdale.

Toledo & Indiana Coach Co.
Acquired in 1941.

Operated from Toledo to Bryan, extended route Bryan to Fort Wayne.

Bluebird Coach Lines
Acquired in 1942, one route only.

Operated from Muncie to Chicago.

In addition, some Fort Wayne City Directories identify a Toledo Fort Wayne Bus Line, perhaps operating over its namesake route and later acquired by Short Way Lines.

In 1948, former Bluebird Coach Lines route sold to Indiana Motor Bus. And in 1950, former Fort Wayne-Kalamazoo Coach Lines route sold to Great Lakes Greyhound.

In 1972, service reduced to a few routes operating north of Toledo, north to Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Pontiac. Service to Jackson, Lansing, and Grand Rapids transferred to North Star Lines.

All service discontinued 1983 except routes from Detroit and Toledo to Detroit Metropolitan Airport. In 1984 merged with North Star Lines, forming Shortway North Star Lines.
