All substation equipment, including rotary converters and rectifiers, originally owned by Commonwealth Edison. At Plymouth Court, buildings and transformers owned by Commonwealth Edison, rotary converters owned by Chicago City Railway.


PLYMOUTH COURT
521 S. Plymouth Ct. (near Harrison St.)

Equipped for DC 1906, rotary converters 25 hertz, owned by Chicago City Railway.
Served surface lines only.

Originally installed 1 1,200 kilowatt rotary converter, total 1,200 kilowatts.
1908 added 1 1,200 kilowatt rotary converter from 20th Street, total 2,400 kilowatts.

Remains a Commonwealth Edison substation, decommissioned as CTA substation.


62ND STREET
810 E. 62nd St. (at Cottage Grove Ave.)

Opened/equipped for DC 1914, rotary converters 25 hertz.
Served surface and elevated lines.

Original rotary converter capacity 10,000 kilowatts.

Replaced 1972 by Cottage Grove substation.
Remains a Commonwealth Edison substation, decommissioned as CTA substation.


PERSHING
3858 S. Lowe Ave.

Equipped for DC 1918, rotary converters 25 hertz.
Served surface and elevated lines.

Remains a Commonwealth Edison substation, decommissioned as CTA substation in 1950's or 1960's.


WESTLAWN
6136 S. Pulaski Rd. (near 62nd St.)

Equipped for DC 1928, rectifiers 60 hertz.
Served surface lines only.

Decommissioned as CTA substation in 1953.
Building sold, remains standing, in use as banquet hall.


MORGAN PARK
2501 W. 111th St. (near Campbell Ave.)

Equipped for DC 1931, rectifiers 60 hertz.
Served surface lines only.

Remains a Commonwealth Edison substation, decommissioned as CTA substation by 1950's.


STATE
1235 S. State St. (near Roosevelt Rd.)

Equipped for DC 1933, rectifiers 60 hertz.
Served surface and elevated lines.

Still a CTA substation.
