INDIANAPOLIS STREETCARS AND BUSES - 1940

Streetcar and bus routes operated in 1940. Throughout the 1930's most streetcar routes were converted to trolleybuses, shown in blue. Indianapolis was left with six streetcar lines entering World War II, shown in red. Motor bus routes are shown in green. After World War II, three streetcar segments were converted to trolleybuses (west and east Washington, Illinois), while the other three segments (Shelby, east Michigan, College) were converted directly to motor buses.
