Between Toledo and Elyria, route replaced a historically earlier route via Norwalk OH. Toledo has a large old station, served by a track diverging from the main line. While the Cleveland Amtrak station is a modest facility constructed along the "Lakefront" line, formerly used by the Twentieth Century Limited and other trains of the past which did not stop in Cleveland. Historically, most trains serving Cleveland stopped at the Union Terminal, located along a separate line diverging at Berea (now CP 194). Berea is also the junction with the former "Big Four" route connecting Cleveland with Indianapolis and St. Louis, along with the line to Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati.
